May 5th, 2013 — Art, Workshops
To find out about the next workshop please email: katragaddamanju@gmail.com
Healing with Art’s workshop is designed with passion to explore the creative side of your personality. We are all so busy with our life and sometimes our inner passions and small cheerful hobbies disappear in the hussle bussle. The motivation behind this workshop is to get you connected back with those inner passions.
Not only that have you ever wanted to paint but never picked up a Brush, now this is an opportunity to get that ticked off as well. Offering all of you out there to discover new skills learn techniques, master the Mindfulness and relaxing whilst further developing their own personal style.
Doing all those while healing yourself and relaxing into the new beginning and new year resolutions.
Creativity isn’t just about art. It’s about the journey. And a journey into your innerself.
Following is the format for the day
Basically the Day will start with Guided mediation to relax yourselves and I will do Reiki(Healing Energy) on everyone and then Art Materials will be provided to start painting - it doesn’t matter what we do as each painting and Art does have a meaning that the person will get and makes them happy. Healing with Art brings along Colour therapy where in a person is drawn to Red means its balancing the Root chakra so we will cover more details on this and similarly for other colours. And you will also have an opportunity to experience mediation in between complimented by Angel card reading.
So it’s all about letting the inner child talk to us through the colors and brushes for the day and make yourselves happy kicking of the new year with a new beginning full of positive energy.
I would be more than happy to share further info or answer any questions you may have. Please feel free to email or ring me.
Testimonial from February Workshop :
Moira: I took part in Manjulas healing throught art workshop back in february. I wasnt really sure what to expect as i hadnt painted in over 12years & was anxious not to be able 2 draw & paint anymore. Well, i have been talking about this worshop to all my friends . I find brilliant the combo of the different meditations done during d day, d personal mini reiki session given to each person & the angel cards touch.it really worked for me- d people i spent d day with, different ages & backgrounds, d laughters & athmosphere… I got somehow unblocked - & have been paiting ever since. I keep on referring Manjula to my friends cause i really know they will benefit from her workshop - just as much as i did. She was brilliant & really helped me a lot.

As part of Derry City of Culture 2013 the Donegal Designer Makers presents, HOME, an exhibition of craft, applied art and design at the Craft Village (off Shipquay Street) Derry, from Fri 3rd – 30th May 2013.
The official opening will take place Friday 3rd May, 6.30pm – 8.30pm. Refreshments will be served and everyone is welcome.
HOME reflects the work of 18 Artist/Designer/Makers from Donegal and their connection with their home place (Donegal). For some it is their birth place, while others have made it their home. The exhibition explores the different elements of what home is to each maker.
Hannah McGuinness, Creative Director, Donegal Designer Makers says, “Our main connection to each other is our home place Donegal. Whether born here or settled here we have the great fortune of being owned by it and thus feeling part of what is Donegal. Our county has great dramatic beauty, is subject to erratic weather patterns, has a language of its own, is steeped in culture and tradition. All these aspects of our life in Donegal are carried through our lifetime, influencing and inspiring our work and us as people.”

Exhibition of Sculpture: Carraige na Farraige
Signal Arts Centre, Bray, Co.Wicklow
Wicklow based stone sculptor Helen O’Connell exhibits a body of work inspired by the sea. Using stone such as Iranian and Italian travertine, Portuguese marble and Killkenny limestone she celebrates the various ways in which powerful aquatic forces create a beautiful underwater world and ‘sculpt’ the stone they interact with. The sculptures range from recognizably maritime subjects such as corals, to more abstract studies of marine life.
‘The sculptural formations found in coastlines eroded by the sea and the panoply of organic life forms to be found underwater from radiolara to corals and seaweeds all inform these sculptures. While acknowledging mother nature as the finest sculptor, my work aims to celebrate the materiality of the stones themselves and pay homage to the ever present consolation of the sea - a repository for so many of our dreams and longings…’
This is Helen O’Connell’s second solo show. She has exhibited in numerous group exhibitions in Ireland and abroad. Her work has been collected by Bono, Anne Madden and the HSE among many private collectors. She has received Arts Council and Crafts Council awards and in 2006 was listed in Whyte’s ‘Buyers guide to Irish Art’ as ‘one to look out for’. She works from her Wicklow studio at home and D15 studios.

Dallamullóg is a show involving the Irish art community and features some of Irelands best known artists such as Cliodna Cussen and Peadar Lamb as they take an apprentice under their wing and set about creating a piece of art. I felt that it might be of interest to you as the series will appeal to art practitioners and enthusiasts as well as the general public. I would be grateful if you could help spread the word by any means possible as we are eager to get members of the art community watching the series.

Each episode will follow the fate of an ordinary tradesperson as they transfer their skills to the art studio in order to create a piece of art which will be assessed by a critic. The tradespeople will be mentored by a renowned Irish artists including the likes of Cliodna Cussen, Peadar Lamb and Turner nominated painter Liam De Frinse.
