I came across K&M Evans wholesalers a couple of years ago and I get so excited when I know I am going in there. The last time I wrote about them I got many questions about where they were and what they supplied.
Here is a map, as their own site is not ready yet, I thought it only fair to give you details of this slightly hidden treasure.
They have it all…including their own brand which is fantastic and have supplied us with their paint for the Size Matters weekends.
(you can test their paints at the Gallery this weekend while painting a miniature canvas)
They also supply to school teachers, and have paper bags and tissue paper…in fact there isn’t much they don’t have!

It is incredible how hidden this shop is. I have tried to find it today and had no luck. I was going arround in circles for 20 minutes and couldn’t find it. Will try next week again hope I will succeed.
can i buy canvas on the roll there?
and do you know is it cheap?
The reason I love it is because it has everything and the prices are great!
It is hidden but if you ask for the English college it is behind that and there is a garage down the same laneway.

Yeah ,everything you all say is true ,its like Alladins cave for artists,and yes Noel you can buy canvas on a roll and linen too,I havent looked at the price cos i still have two rolls to use up.
I usually stock up on anything i need whenever I get up there I would say they have about the best value around on art supplies. I sometimes use their own brand of oils and they are lovely to use and very intense colours.

Oh yes just to let all you art addicts know ,the second annual “Art in the open “weekend will be happening all around Wexford town on the August bank holiday weekend ,three days of plein air painting 31st July 1st and 2nd August(hope the sun shines) . The weekend will culminate on bank hol Mon 3rd, with a very short exhibition and prizegiving. Last year 104 Artists from all over Ireland N and S , the U.K. and some from the U.S took part.
If you fancy joining in you can download the entry form and rules from our website http://www.artintheopen.org or just turn up on any or all three days. Entry fee is 25e and you can submit 3 pieces of work. There will also be 3 demos by well known artists.It should be a great weekend with loads of craic, sure why not give it a go !!

Am looking for moulds for making statues eg. Animals,etc. for my son who has a disability and would like to do this as a pastime. Years ago he made the small model figures, but he’s looking for something bigger this time. Any advice. Live in Co. Meath.
I was not sure where to put this comment but for all beaders out there, the bead shop by the Liffey called “Yellow Brick Road” has suffered a house fire about 5 weeks ago. They’ve temporarily reopened next door and are selling their smoke damaged supplies. Total €30 of items and you will pay just €10. Nice one!
