Tell me what you want!

Right! I believe in actions speak louder than words!

It works every time and now it is up to you. I am not asking you to give up your day job but you can decide on mine! Last week I went to the”Making money from your passion” business course. A huge amount of things came up for me and I have decided to go head long into this craft support/ information/ getting people going theme.

Already I have changed the route that my career in the craft sector was taking me. Realising that I can change a lot of things for the better, I am now pleading with you……let your voice be heard!

What is needed?…. what is missing?…..what would you like to see happen?

• • Are you a craft council member? if not, then what is holding you back.
• • Do you think there is need for a main website that can provide you with all details of fairs, suppliers, all associations/guilds etc?
• • Would a magazine be better than an email for NOTICEBOARD?
• • Should NOTICEBOARD continue?
• • How can I improve the NOTICEBOARD or this BLOG???

This is your chance to get things moving that will help you!

Nothing is impossible!

Hello to all the 70 million Irish descendants out there….feel free to have a word too!

Guten Tag, hola, Cioa, olá, G’day, how you doin’, salut! If you have any suggestion to how the Irish craft sector can better themselves, please tell us your suggestions and experiences.

All comments have to pass by me before they get published…so if you are shy and would prefer to keep anonymous still send the ideas my way, tell me if you want to be kept private.

If you would like to email me personally on karen.noticeboard@gmail.com.

If you would like to start receiving NOTICEBOARD, just email me

and you will be added immediately.

Looking forward to hearing from you!

Karen

    • • Are you a craft council member? if not, then what is holding you back.
… No, I’m a visual artist and they won’t let me in.

    • • Do you think there is need for a main website
… Yes, definatly. If you can get all the resouces we need into some kind of order that would be great.

    • • Would a magazine be better than an email for NOTICEBOARD?.
… I prefer email, paper takes up too much room and you can’t find it when you want it. The Blog is better because hopefully you’ll be archiving the issues on the blog any way.

    • • Should NOTICEBOARD continue?
    …Yep

    • • How can I improve the NOTICEBOARD or this BLOG???
… add more useful content like links to the VAI, Crafts Council and other resources available on the net or elsewhere. How about an advice centre where we can all put up tips and tricks we use or solutions to different situations.

Would you feel there is need for craft groups to meet casually to support eachother.
… It would be nice as most of us are probably one man bands and it’s god to meet like minded people to share our experiences and learn from each other.

    Hello

Where would I find information about using slates as surrounds for mirrors?

    Many thanks

    Regina

Okay this is a direct hit…i have many slates sitting in the back garden, and yes I have 15 ostrich eggs waiting to be painted, but that is not as exciting as the 14 canvases that I bought the other day! The fact that I got about 6 litres of paint to put on them means something has to happen!!!

Yes, I think you should defo keep going with the Noticeboard. Its great! I might be keeping very quiet but I always read it from top to bottom. I think email is far better than magazines because its better for the environment, easier to ’search’ for an old topic and I have a tiny house with no room to store any more stuff!! As ‘Ed P’ said, I think it would be great to have an advice and tips centre. Also, a ‘buy and sell’ area for old equipment you might be getting rid of and someone else might really need. For instance, at the moment I really need a ‘disc cutter’. The company that make them (Pepe Tools) are behind in their production and there is a massive waiting list to buy one, hence I am still waiting… since May. If anyone has one to sell I would snap it up!.
