Starting out - setting up a fair!

Firstly….your reputation is everything!!!

Do it right the first time, cut no corners, put in as much effort as you possible can, advertise in every way possible, be fair and loyal to the stand holders and then hope for the best!

If you have the intention of making money in every way possible then everyone fails.

If you start with the attitude that growing a business and reputation is your goal and  you look after the stand holders as well as your customers, making sure there is variety and quality available to buy and a fair amount of stand holders with different products then you have a good basis to start from.

Never over-crowd an item (i.e. 6 jewellery/candle sellers out of 20 stands) it is boring for your customer as everything seems to be the same, and your stand holders are not going to sell well as people buying jewellery/candles on the day are spreading their funds over a large number of people.

ADvertise, ADvertise, ADvertise you can not do this enough!

Customers in the door bring a good atmosphere, good sales for your stand holders and the best way to advertise your next venture.

The products on the day need to be of good quality and not unrealistic prices, so ask your potential stand holders to send you images/prices of their work.  If they are ready to sell professionally then they will manage this no problem.

BE ORGANISED!

Have your venue, stand holders, advertising and paperwork in order a couple of days before your event.  It leaves room for any unexpected hiccups.

(I recommend that stand holders pay for their space in advance, people not turning up on the day is less likely once they have paid.  When the doors open to the public, it is disheartening to other stand holders and customers to see empty tables, a quick reshuffle makes the place more inviting)

Music….it brings a happy feeling and mood to any event!
