Armagh City, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council in partnership with the Craft & Design Collective invite you to apply to exhibit your work as part of The Art of Craft Exhibition 2016.  The exhibition is intended to both challenge and inform the public perception of Craft, Applied Art and Design.  We are therefore looking for genuine one-off or limited edition pieces, not production work…  You may apply to submit 1-3 pieces.

The Art of Craft Exhibition is open to Artist/Designer/Makers born in Northern Ireland or Ireland and now resident in Northern Ireland, Ireland or the UK working in Craft Disciplines recognised by either the Crafts Council (GB) or the Design & Crafts Council of Ireland (see attached ‘List of Recognised Craft Disciplines’).  All work must be made by the Applicant themselves.

The exhibition will take place in the fabulous ‘white cube’ gallery space in The Market Place Theatre & Arts Centre in the heart of the historic city of Armagh.  This link http://www.digital-door.com/marketplacetour/index.html will take you to a 360 degree view of the Gallery.  It defaults to the auditorium – on the bottom left corner, there are thumbnails, click on those and they’ll open and you’ll be able to see the Gallery one – click on it and it will take you into the Gallery.  I’ve also attached the Gallery Technical Specification – you should bear this information in mind when you decide what work you would like to submit. 

We are particularly interested in large-scale wall pieces, textiles and installation pieces.

Work should be new, if possible.

Work that has already been exhibited extensively across Ireland and Northern Ireland will not be accepted.

Visitors to the exhibition will be asked to vote for their favourite piece and an award of £300 will be made to the winning Artist/Designer/Maker.

If you would like to apply to exhibit your work as part of The Art of Craft Exhibition 2016 please fill in the attached APPLICATION FORM and return it BY POST with the SUPPORTING MATERIALS to Craft & Design Collective, Space CRAFT, 9b The Fountain Centre, College Street, Belfast, BT1 6ET by 5pm, FRIDAY 4 MARCH 2016.  Images submitted should be of the actual pieces that you would deliver if your work is selected.

WE WILL NOT ACCEPT APPLICATIONS OR IMAGES BY EMAIL

Selection will be made by a Selection Panel from the APPLICATION FORMS and SUPPORTING MATERIALS.  The decision of the Selection Panel is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
